"Magical cottage with the most accomodating owner"
We spent two weeks at the cottages along with our 2 year old son. The owner, Debra, is the most accommodating and thoughtful host. She had literally thought of everything we might need before we arrived, even arranging babysitting and restaurant reservations for us and leaving us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We could not have asked for a better welcome! The cottages were exactly as described on the site and even more charming than the photos. The views are magnificent, the sheep around the cottages delighted my son to no end and it was the perfect place to take in the scenery and enjoy the countryside. With so many activities just nearby, we found plenty to do in our two weeks there.....the local beach, the close by charming town of Kenmare, hikes, boating, music at the pubs, etc.... The cottages have something for everyone and we would happily return again for another magical time!

"Back to basics - we have normal children again"
We stayed at the cottages the first week of August 2012 with another family - 4 adults and 6 children ranging from 9 to 14. It's great value for money for such a large group and the children while daunted by lack of TV/internet for the first 24 hours quickly adapted to a life of playing chess, draughts, cards - it was wonderful. All the adults commented that it was the first time in ages where we all just sat together and talked with the children, sharing many stories and having endless laughs. If you like climbing or walking it's a mecca. You walk out the the door and just head off. There is a pub about 4 miles away with a lovely ambience and this is also the place where we found the scuba diving departed from - Paul and Martin were brilliant. There are numerous opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and sailing at various locations - safety was always first class and despite the fact we had 2 adults and some children who were non-swimmers we went out to sea on 2 days in the kayaks. We didn't get to try the fishing or horse riding but the property managers provide you with a great list of activities to try and contact details for all of them. You do need to pick up groceries when out and about during the day as there is no concept of 7 to 11 in the immediate vacinity, but there is a fabulous lady who runs the shop next to the church in Lauragh - opens around 10 and shuts before 6 but not every day of the week. This lady directed us to the beautiful sandy beach at Allihies where we spent 6 glorious hours with our picnics - and the sun was blazing. Kenmare and Castletownbere are food heavens. The fish is an obvious choice but the local lamb and beef are also delicious. Kenmare ice cream shop has so many choices of flavours and toppings that we spent over half an hour in there on three different days waiting for us all to choose what to have. Thank you to all the lovely Irish people on the Beara Pennisula for making our week in Kerry/Cork so memorable

"Great break-away from city life in the beautiful scenic area of Lauragh, Ireland"
Our two week vacation was memorable and we came home rested and revived. The two cottages were fully equiped with everything you need in a self serve environment. The property leans itself to outdoor games, beautiful hikes and scenic views. It has a peaceful country feeling to it, with sheep grazing all over the place and we even saw deer close by. You do need a car since most of the outings we did required driving. We were able to go to the Kenmare river where you could swim and cruise around the tidepools, we did some archery with the kids at Sea safari close by and there are beautiful planned out hikes that can be done, taking you to waterfalls, stone circles and breathtaking views. The town of Kenmare is great for eating out, shopping and just sight-seeing. We were able to go horseback riding in the beautiful countryside. A day outing to Killarney and or Bantry bay is worth it. Along the way you can visit Munrose house via horse cart.

"The most tranquil place in the world"
I cannot explain the sense of peace and tranquility that surrounds the whole area It just takes your breath away ! We found the cottages spotlessly clean and confortably There is every thing you need just remember to get all the supplies you will need as there Is no running to the shops for milk at the last minute , we spent many a fine evening Watching the sun go down with the BBQ lighting and a glass of wine in hand this has to Be what life is all about . Thanks for sharing you lovely house with us .

After the second day, I realised that I hadn't heard a sound. I was starting to completely unwind.

These cottages are unique; they are like no other holiday cottage I have been in. They are truly beautiful, unique and should be marketed in a very special way.

The decoration was of a very high quality, from the bedspreads to leather sofas, to the cooker to the china plates. All the kitchenware was superb. We will definately be back.

I am going to go back to the States and after standing in front of your cottage, tell them I had seen the real Ireland! You couldn't be more traditional than here, combined with high quality and style
